We are absolutely delighted to share some very special news, Lee has been named a finalist at The Oldham Business Awards 2026 in the category Business Person of the Year.
The awards ceremony takes place on 2nd October 2026 and we cannot wait to celebrate alongside so many brilliant local businesses, makers, teams and community champions from across Oldham.
For everyone at H.M.Pasties this nomination means a great deal because 2026 has already been an incredible year for Lee and the whole team with several award nominations along the way. But being recognised here in Oldham the town our bakery calls home feels especially meaningful.
Just weeks after being named both Heart of Gold Award Winner and Small Business of the Year 2026 at The Small Awards we found ourselves heading to one of the most famous addresses in the country.
Not quite No.10 Downing Street but next door at No.11!
We are incredibly proud to announce that H.M.Pasties has been recognised with two prestigious national awards at The Small Awards 2026 taking home both the Heart of Gold Award and the overall Small Business of the Year Award.
Community support can transform lives especially when it brings together passion, purpose and practical help. Recently a collaboration between PossAbilities a social enterprise and the H.M.Pasties Foundation has shown how simple acts can create meaningful change. This partnership not only raised funds but also built hope and opportunities for people facing challenges.
We are thrilled to share some exciting news our business has been shortlisted for the Heart of Gold Award at The Small Awards 2026. This recognition celebrates small businesses that make a real difference in their local communities.
Being part of this nationwide search for the UK’s most outstanding small firms is a huge honour. The Small Awards now in its tenth year is organised by Small Business Britain an organisation dedicated to supporting the 5.5 million small businesses across the country.
Fantastic news has arrived for our team here at H.M.Pasties as we can proudly announce that we have won four awards at the prestigious British Pie Awards held this year in Melton Mowbray.
This achievement highlights our dedication to quality and social impact marking another milestone in our journey as a socially driven food brand. The awards recognise excellence across pasty and multiple pie categories showcasing the skill and passion of our team behind our H.M.Pasties products.
Did You Catch Lee on BBC Breakfast This Morning?
We were incredibly proud to see Lee representing H.M.Pasties on national television this morning during his appearance on BBC Breakfast. If you managed to tune in you’ll already know what a fantastic job he did sharing the story behind what we do.
Lee spoke passionately about the journey of H.M.Pasties, the purpose that drives our work and the impact we’re striving to make every single day. What started as a simple idea baking great pasties has grown into something far bigger. At its heart H.M.Pasties is about opportunity, community and rebuilding lives.
More Than Just Pasties
While we’re incredibly proud of the quality of our products (and we’ll never stop perfecting our pasties!) the real mission behind H.M.Pasties goes beyond food. Our goal has always been to create meaningful opportunities and help people move forward with confidence, dignity, and support.
Behind the scenes is a team committed not only to great food but also to making a genuine difference in people’s lives. Seeing Lee share that message on national television was a special moment for all of us!
The H.M.Pasties Foundation
A big part of that mission is carried forward through the H.M.Pasties Foundation. The foundation focuses on extending our impact and supporting initiatives that help individuals rebuild, learn, and move forward.
Through the foundation we’re able to expand the support we offer and work alongside people who are determined to create positive change in their own lives. It’s a vital part of our work and something we’re deeply committed to growing.
How You Can Support the Mission
Moments like today remind us that none of this happens alone. The support of our customers, partners and community makes everything we do possible.

Even sharing our story helps spread awareness about the work we’re doing and the lives we hope to impact. Every bit of support makes a difference.
H.M.Pasties Foundation has launched a GoFundMe page. It will help us to help more people like Ryan to rebuild their future and have productive and purposeful lives.
From prison to pies we can announce that H.M.Pasties has launched in 79 Co-op stores across Greater Manchester!
This marks the first time that we have secured a supermarket contract, a major milestone in our mission to break the cycle of re-offending by providing meaningful employment for prison leavers. You can pick up a couple of our favourites including the steak pie and the classic cheese & onion pie.

Our Founder Lee Wakeham said: “This is a landmark moment for H.M.Pasties. As someone who has been to prison myself, I know just how hard it is to find a way forward when you come out. From day one, our mission has been to reduce re-offending by giving people leaving prison the chance to learn, work and build a better future. Securing our first supermarket contract with Co-op means not only will more people get to enjoy our products, but together we’re showing how business can be a real force for good in our communities.”
Through H.M.Pasties Foundation charity part funded by H.M.Pasties the foundation provides mentoring, skills development and guidance to those determined to make positive changes. Employees gain valuable work experience, rebuild their confidence and reconnect with their communities in constructive ways!
If you purchase one of our pies you are directly supporting this life changing work and supporting employment, skills and mentoring for prison leavers in the Northwest.
